Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about The Kilometre Club, Chesterโs friendly and inclusive running community.
What is the kilometre club?
A Chester-based running club. With running at the heart of it, the kilometre club helps to bring likeminded people together who simply want to improve their health, as well as their physical and mental wellbeing.
Who can join?
Anyone who is interested in running and has a desire to meet new people and be sociable. We ask that you can run a distance of 5km as a minimum in 32 minutes before joining.
When do you meet?
Our group meets every Tuesday morning, Wednesday evening and Sunday morning. We also have a monthly fitness bootcamp, a monthly yoga session and regular social events.
Where do you run?
We meet at various different locations across the Chester area including the Racecourse, Hoole and Christleton as well as others, just to mix things up and change routes. All details can be found a few days prior to the run in the WhatsApp group.
How do I join?

Am I too slow to run with you?
We just ask that you can run a 5km in 32 minutes or quicker prior to joining.
Are there group pace options?
Yes! We have a range of different paced groups at every meet so youโll always have company during our runs.
Do you offer coaching or training plans?
For those training for races, we can offer a structured training plan to help you reach your goal. Please fill out our enquiry form.
What races do you participate in?
We participate in various local races throughout the year, from 5Ks to marathons. Some of our members even travel for destination races. We also organise our own fun runs and social events!
How much does it cost to join the club?
We have an annual membership offer or a monthly membership option. Our Annual membership for 2025 runs from 1st January (or from the date you sign up) to the 31st December, 2025. This is a ยฃ140 one-off payment. Our monthly membership option is ยฃ17 per month. Further details of what you get from your membership can be found here – www.thekilometreclub.co.uk/
Are there any social events?
Yes! We pride ourselves on being more than just a running club. Our midweek meet often finishes with a drink, our Sunday social always finishes with a coffee and we have regular social events, shoe trials and kit demos. The Summer and Christmas parties are not to be missed!
What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
In the case of inclement weather, weโll make announcements in our private Whatsapp group about any changes or cancellations. We typically still meet for runs unless it’s dangerous (e.g. lightning or severe storms).
